Male Andrology Services - Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)Statistics indicate 40% of infertility is a condition of the male. RMA of Michigan recognizes male-factor infertility is just as prominent as female-factor and weighs services provided to our male patients as important as services provided to the female. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a procedure that uses a thin catheter to inject a washed sperm sample into the uterine cavity. This can also be referred to as artificial insemination. An IUI can be an effective treatment for male factor fertility. Male factor fertility can consist of low sperm count, low sperm motility, abnormal sperm or a combination of any of these. An IUI allows us to get a higher concentration and higher number of sperm in the female’s reproductive tract, thereby increasing the chance of sperm reaching the egg to achieve fertilization.
